The Silpat® story
The Silpat® story began in 1965 with Guy Demarle, a renowned French baker who dreamed of developing a better way to prepare and bake his baguettes. He invented a revolutionary baking mat that shook up the world of professional baking.
Guy Demarle named his new mat Silpat®, after the two key components used in his products: a specially formulated silicone and a unique glass fabric. His nonstick silicone mat became Silpat®’s bestseller and is still used in professional kitchens all over the world.
Today, Silpat® is part of the Maison Demarle group and remains the international benchmark in the pastry and bakery industries.See group page
The brand and its technology
A Silpat® mat or mold puts a wealth of technology to work for your baking. The two inseparable elements in our products have turned them into a success in the kitchen for years:
A more flexible and robust kind of fiberglass ensures even cooking thanks to improved heat distribution.
The nonstick properties of food-grade (peroxide-, phthalate- and BPA-free) silicone eliminate the need for greasing, while guaranteeing perfect unmolding.
The combination of these two materials provides our products with exceptional durability and results worthy of any pro.
In short, why choose Silpat®?
• Professional results at home
• Designed and made in France
• Unique fiberglass structure and impeccable food-grade silicone coating
• Easy, even baking with flawless unmolding
• No more greasing, for healthier cooking and easy cleaning
• Cuts down on waste: no need for aluminum foil or parchment paper
Often imitated, never duplicated
Is it a genuine SILPAT or a knockoff?
Like many of the world's leading brands, our success has led to counterfeiting. Unfortunately, we’re often asked whether some websites selling fakes are authentic and we hear stories of people who accidentally buy fake mats and molds online. Protect yourself and your loved ones by only purchasing genuine SILPAT products from silpat.com or an authorized SILPAT dealer. If you come across a website selling counterfeit products or displaying unauthorized SILPAT advertising, please contact us at email@example.com
Fakes are too good to be true!
The dangers of knockoffs
Not only is counterfeiting illegal, it can be dangerous, too. We have tested the materials used in counterfeit products and we know that they often use hazardous and/or toxic chemicals. Counterfeit products present significant health risks. Knockoffs can also be dangerous for your wallet. Counterfeit sites don't offer refunds or secure payment. Your payment and personal information may be at risk.
Fakes are hazardous to your health and your personal data!
Silpat® the professional choice

Made in France
Silpat®, a French company and French factories. Our story began in 1965, at the Bray-lès-Mareuil site in the Somme. The brand grew steadily, eventually moving to Pont-Remy (Somme) and then to Wavrin, in the Hauts-de-France region near Lille, where it is now based.
